Two GHS girls qualify for state powerlifting meet

The Gatesville High School girls powerlifting team competed in a regional invitational on March 3, and had two lifters qualify for the state meet – sophomores Kasey Fitzer and Emma Davidson.

“These girls did a fantastic job of competing and giving everything they had,” said coach Jason Moffett. He added that Gatesville’s girls finished in sixth place overall in the team standings at the event. The state meet is scheduled for Friday, March 17 at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

GHS results from the meet include:

  • Emma Davidson, second place in the 220 weight class with a squat of 325, bench of 200, deadlift of 235 and total weight of 760.
  • Kasey Fitzer, third place in the 114 weight class with a squat of 225, bench of 140, deadlift of 240 and total weight of 605.
  • Lindsey Cummings, third place in the 105 weight class with a squat of 195, bench of 115, deadlift of 210 and total weight of 520.
  • Brookelynn Byrd, third place in the 165 weight class with a squat of 290, bench of 175, deadlift of 305 and total weight of 770.
  • Marin Seagraves, fifth place in the 105 weight class with a squat of 180, bench of 120, deadlift of 205 and total weight of 505.
  • Baylyn Roberts, sixth place in the 105 weight class with a squat of 185, bench of 95, deadlift of 175 and total weight of 455.
  • Vielka Gonzalez, sixth place in the 198 weight class with a squat of 325, bench of 170, deadlift of 255 and total weight of 750.
  • Zoey Arnold, seventh place in the 220 weight class with a squat of 280, bench of 165, deadlift of 250 and total weight of 695.
  • Lena Clawson, eighth place in the 181 weight class with a squat of 235, bench of 170, deadlift of 265 and total weight of 670.
  • Isabela Mondragon, 11th place in the 132 weight class with a squat of 195, bench of 130, deadlift of 215 and total weight of 540.
