As Super Saturday approaches, shop local

The term “Super Saturday” or, as some call it, “Panic Saturday,” marks the end of the Christmas holiday shopping season. Super Saturday is usually comprised of last-minute shoppers who may have procrastinated about shopping early. It is usually the case that retailers hold one-day sales on that day in order to bring in more revenue. Super Saturday will fall on Saturday, Dec. 19 this year.

In the past, impulse buying has been prompted by retailers who are in competition with each other - by offering significant discounts and often extending their store hours in order to attract more last-minute customers. During this time, some stores will see double or triple their usual customer sales.

Over the last few years, experts have not seen online shopping as a problem when dealing with actual retail stores since some shoppers are afraid that their purchases might not arrive in time for the holidays.
