Studebakers to convene in Gatesville

A group of Studebaker collectors from across Texas and from as far away as Bossier City, LA, will have their annual spring tour in Gatesville this weekend.

The event will afford local residents the opportunity to see an American classic on city streets that went out of production in March of 1966.

Chapter members will start arriving in Gatesville on Thursday with a full schedule of events planned for Friday and Saturday. Mark Brians of Belton, a leader of the group, said 38 persons had registered for the tour and that will mean about 20 vintage Studebakers, including a 1931 Studebaker President and 1937 Express, will be part of the Spring Tour.

Brians said while some members will bring their cars on trailers, the bulk of the membership will be driving their cars to Gatesville.
