Storms keep County Road and Bridge Department busy
The recent round of spring storms has brought the Coryell County Road and Bridge Department along with the Sheriff’s Offi ce and county fire departments out in numbers with calls of downed trees and flooding at the many low water crossings on county roads.
In many instances, these individuals are called out during the overnight hours to make sure the over 650 miles of county roads are safe for early morning traffi c and especially the routes are cleared for school bus traffi c.
According to Justin Latham, Coryell County Road and Bridge Administrator, members of his department have responded to almost 30 after hour calls since the first of May, which is higher than usual.
There are sections of many county roads that are framed by a canopy of overhanging large tree branches.
