UIL realignment announced for remaining sports

On Monday (March 14) the second part of the University Interscholastic League realignment was announced for the 2022-2023 and 2022-2024 school years.

On Feb. 3, the UIL had unveiled district alignments in football, basketball, and volleyball, with more to come for other sports.

The Gatesville Hornets will compete in District 23-4A Region III in baseball, cross country, golf, softball, track, and spring tennis. UIL academic teams will also compete in that district.

In team tennis in the fall, the Hornets will continue to face Brownwood, Glen Rose, Lampasas, and Stephenville in District 7-4A Region I.

The GHS soccer team will transition to District 5-4A Region I, competing with Stephenville, China Spring, Brownwood, Academy, Lampasas, and Salado. Salado and Academy competed in District 18-4A this season with GHS.

For the GHS wrestling team, the Hornets will continue to participate in District 6-5A Region II. This is the only sport in which the Hornets compete in Class 5A. District opponents include Winnsboro, Burleson High, Burleson Centennial, Arlington Seguin, Kennedale, Pittsburg, Midlothian Heritage, Midlothian High, and Lancaster.

In baseball, the Jonesboro Eagles and Oglesby Tigers will compete in District 14-2A Region II in the coming year. In softball, the Tigers and the Eagles will part ways in district play. The Eagles will compete in District 12-2A Region II, while the Tigers will participate in District 13-2A Region II.

The Eagles and Tigers will compete in cross country together in District 25-1A-Region IV, but the Evant Elks will compete in District 18-1A Region III. In spring athletics, which includes golf, spring tennis, and track and field, the Eagles and Tigers will compete in District 25-1A Region IV. This classification will include academics as well.

Evant will compete in District 18-1A Region III in spring athletics. Evant will also be a part of that district in academics.
