Softball falls to Lampasas, 5-2

Posted

The Gatesville Lady Hornets fell 5-2 in their District 6-4A contest against Lampasas on Friday, April 8, in a softball game at Lampasas High School.

The Lady Hornets hoped to rebound in this game, but the game got away from them. Most notably in the sixth because the Badgers hit a three-run home run. In the same inning, the Lady Hornets had a single run. Gatesville struggled at-bat, only reaching base on a hit twice, but stayed in the game defensively.

“We played a really good game last night; things just didn’t fall our way,” GHS coach Andrea Holdbrook said. “The girls never gave up and played hard, making Lampasas earn the win.”

Gatesville is scheduled to play Cameron Yoe in a non-district game on April 12 and re-enter district play against Brownwood on April 14. Both games will be in Gatesville. The Lady Hornets' record is now 8-16-2 overall, and their district record is 2-3.
