The Gatesville Lady Hornets softball team played the Franklin Lady Lions and the Bremond Lady Tigers on Saturday, March 12, at Franklin High School.

The Lady Hornets fell to the Lady Lions 12-0, but defeated the Lady Tigers, 12-6. The Lady Hornets were scheduled to play the Waco Connally Lady Cadets on Friday, but it was it was not played due to weather concerns.

Stats for the Franklin game were not available at press time, but according to GHS softball coach Andrea Holdbrook, the Lady Hornets did a good job putting the ball in play.

The game against Bremond was different than the first.

“We consistently put the ball in play, and eventually they made a few mistakes,” Holdbrook said. “This time, we took advantage and racked up runs to create a big inning offensively. That cushion gave our pitchers the confidence to finish out the game. It was a good team win.”

The Bremond game took a turn in the fifth inning, with the Lady Hornets crossing home plate six times.

Raylee Glover was 3-for-4 with two RBI and walked once, while Kinlee Gardner was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Kinsey Gardner was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.
