The Gatesville Lady Hornets fell to the Robinson Lady Rockets Tuesday in a rematch against Robinson in last week’s Fairfield Tournament.
The Hornets dropped to 4-8 on the season heading into a Monday, Dec.20 trip to China Spring. The China Spring game was moved to Monday because the Cougars are in the state finals in football this week.
Against Robinson on Tuesday, the Lady Hornets came out sputtering.
Robinson led 6-2 after one quarter. The Rockets increased the lead to 18-14 at halftime as the Lady Hornets were having trouble with turnovers.
Aliyah Trotter had a 3-pointer with 3:24 left in the second quarter to cut the tie the game at 10-10.
Robinson was able to get rolling with a good mixture of outside shots and work in the lane.
For Gatesville, Taylor Coward finished with 10 points. Trotter and Kamryn Higginbotham scored eight points each.
Kagen Hunt had four points, Laura Trejo two and Kylie Cox one.
The team will host Jarrell Tuesday, Dec. 21 in their final game before Christmas.
The JV Gold lost, 35-20, to Robinson.
The Hornet boys lost, 55-42, to the West Trojans on Tuessday on the road.
The JV Gold lost 53-48 and the JV Black lost 24-22 in OT.
Gatesville hosts McGregor here Friday, then takes a break before Varsity competes in the Reagan County Invitational December 28-29.
