Jonesboro dominates all-district squad

Jonesboro High School dominated the District 15-1A, Div. I football team as selected by the district coaches.

Leading the selections for the 11-1 Eagles were Offensive Player of the Year Caleb Christel and Defensive Player of the Year Nat Hilliker. Sophomore Demarcus Acoff was Newcomer of Year and Eddie Gallegos was Coach of the Year.

The Eagles rolled through their season without a loss before falling to the No. 1-ranked May Tigers in the second round of the playoffs.

Jonesboro had players voted to the first team.

The first-teamers are tight end Layton Blanchard, tight end Hilliker, center Demarcus Acoff, quarterback Garrett Young, running back Jacob Cisneros, fullback Ian Shoaf, kicker Manny Torres, nose guard Christel, lineman Zach Chapman, lineman Acoff, cornerback Jaden Domel, safety Shoaf, and safety Cisneros.

Making second team for the Eagles were Chapman as tight end, Torres as both running back and defensive lineman, and Young on special teams.

The Evant Elks had Luis Arellano make first-team running back.

The Elks second-team choices were Canyon Smith at spread center, Kenny Jones at quarterback, Arellano at linebacker and Damian Honea as utility.
