Jonesboro celebrates homecoming win

Six-man football teams often scramble to find opponents.

The No. 4 state-ranked Jonesboro Eagles took on Greenville Christian Friday for homecoming and it turned into a 56-6 blowout.

This week the Eagles used the ground game for seven of their touchdowns from four different players.

Caleb Christel, Jacob Cisneros and Ian Shoaf all had two touchdown runs each.

Shoaf added an interception return for another score.

“We played well and with great effort,’’ Jonesboro coach Eddie Gallegos said. “We still need to improve in some areas.’’

Quarterback Christel- was 0-3 passing after a big week throwing the week before against Turkey Valley.

On the ground, Christel had four carries for 162 yards and two scores.

Cisneros touched the ball five times for 67 yards and two scores.

Ian Shoaf racked up three carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

Manny Torres added a 26-yard ramble for a touchdown.

Jaden Domel had one carry for eight yards.

On defense, Domel and Zach Chapman had nine tackles each. DeMarcus Acoff racked up eight tackles.

Nat Hilliker added six tackles and one pass breakup.

Christel had six tackles followed by Garrett Young five tackles.

Shoaf polished off a big night with four tackles, two pass breakups and his interception return.
