Gatesville High School’s boys soccer team clinched a playoff berth on Friday, March 11, in their regular-season finale, defeating the Lake Belton Broncos by a 3-2 count in penalty kicks in a District 18-4A contest at Lake Belton High School.
The Hornets tied the Broncos 2-2 in regulation, but needed overtime to decide the game. Luis Macias and Juan Angel Almendariz scored for the Hornets in regulation, while Oswaldo Leon, Morgan Clary, and Enrique Rojas scored the three goals in penalty kicks.
The Hornets finished district play with a 9-5 mark.
