Tigers, Eagles both earn football victories

The Oglesby Tigers improved to 4-0 with a 46-0 win over Kopperl on Sept. 16, while the Jonesboro Eagles lifted their record to 3-1 with a 62-0 win over Greenville Christian on Sept. 17.

Three Tigers scored in double figures, with Kyler Fossett leading the way with 18 points followed by Johnny Gomez with 12 and Brodie Fisher with 10. Hunter Ewing scored six points for Oglesby.

Hunter Walter completed three of seven passes for 73 yards for OHS, including a touchdown, while Kyler Fossett completed one of two passes for 28 yards and a touchdown.

Fossett also ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries for the Tigers.

Fossett, Ewing and Jack Hendricks each had one catch for 28 yards for Oglesby, with Fossett and Ewing having touchdown receptions.

Hendricks and Fossett each had 12 tackles for the Tiger defense, followed by Gomez who had 11, along with a fumble recovery and an interception. Jakson Tippit and Alex Castillo each had seven tackles for Oglesby, while Aiden Deskins contributed three. Castillo also had a fumble recovery.

Oglesby is scheduled to host Methodist Children's Home of Waco at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

Eagles win big

Jonesboro manhandled Greenville Christian in a Saturday road game, rolling to a 62-0 win.

Although game stats were not available, the following team leaders were listed on MaxPreps. Caleb Christel is averaging 107.3 yards rushing per game for Jonesboro and 128 total yards. Nathan Forrest is averaging 50 yards passing per game and has also recorded three pancake blocks. Layden Nichols is averaging 12.7 points per game for the Eagles. Jacob Cisneros is averaging 9.3 tackles per game for the JHS defense.

Jonesboro will play the Smoking for Jesus Christian School of Burnet in a road game at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

The Evant Elks did not play on Sept. 16, but are scheduled to travel to Rochelle for a 7:30 p.m. game Sept. 23.
