Rainbow Room helps kids in need

Located in Copperas Cove, the Coryell County Rainbow Room is a 24-hour emergency resource center available to Child Protective Service workers to assist them in meeting the critical needs of abused and neglected children.

The first Rainbow Room was established in 1993 through an initiative of the Community Partners of Dallas and was expanded statewide by First Lady Laura Bush. Today, there are more than 28 Rainbow Rooms in the state of Texas.

The evolution of the Coryell County Rainbow Room began in 1994 under the direction of Gloria Schmitz and a group of dedicated volunteers who wished to provide children with items they may need once Child Protective Services became involved.
