Problems arise at recycling center
The City of Gatesville’s recycling could be shut down due to a problem with persons dumping nonrecyclable items at the Gatesville collection station.
The program was implemented several years ago as a partnership with the Fort Hood Recycle Center for the benefit of local residents who want to recycle items as curbside recycling it not available.
According to Gatesville City Manager Bill Parry, “The Fort Hood Recycle Center has put us on notice that if we do not do a better job of educating local residents on what items can and cannot be recycled, we risk losing the service.
“In some cases, it appears that someone has just dumped items in the recycling containers that should have been placed in the trash.”
