Nursing homes help residents fend off loneliness as limited visitations begin
On March 13, Governor Greg Abbott directed state agencies to restrict visitation at nursing home facilities in order to protect those deemed to be the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since March, nursing home employees have been busy trying to combat the loneliness and depression that many of the nursing home residents have experienced as a result of not receiving visits from their family members and friends.
Helen Munday, the Administrator of RehabLiving at The Meadows, said that residents have had “difficulty understanding what was going on...they were lonely and missing their family and friends.”
