Nine year-old donates gifts to animal shelter

A young, soon-to-be-fourth -grade Gatesville girl recently celebrated her ninth birthday and decided to share the event with the animals in the City of Gatesville Animal Shelter.

When Elliot Shoaf and her parents, Dustin and Liz Shoaf, began planning her birthday party months ago, Elliot asked if she could have presents be given to the pets at the shelter.

Her mother spoke with Gatesville Animal Control Officer Frankie Miller and received the approval for the “special gifts.”

In her party invitations, Elliot asked that her 15 to 20 friends bring “pet gifts” instead of presents for a nine year-old girl.
