New city attorney introduced
At the city council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27, Mayor Gary Chumley introduced the new city attorney and general counselor, Charlie Olson, of Haley & Olson, P.C. Olson has over 35 years of practicing municipal law and governmental litigation and serves as general counsel for a number of cities within a 200-mile radius of Waco. His firm is active in litigation cases on behalf of the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool, which is the city of Gatesville’s liability insurance provider.
The council also accepted the resignation of Council member Randy Hitt representing Ward 1, Place 2. Timothy Woodlock, former Gatesville city council member and mayor pro tem, was accepted to fi ll the vacancy left by Hitt, whose term expires in November 2018. Both motions received unanimous votes.
