A mother’s love, knows no bounds

There is currently a project for female offenders in nine Texas prisons. This project has gained national attention over recent years, and holds a special place in the hearts of many incarcerated women as Mother’s Day is celebrated this weekend.

The Women’s Storybook Project (WSP) of Texas is a special program that helps incarcerated mothers do what moms have always done to comfort and nurture their children—read them bedtime stories, using their own voices to love, reassure, and encourage them from miles away.

Volunteers from WSP visit women’s prisons in Central and East Texas once a month to record mothers reading age-appropriate books aloud to their children. The mother is allowed to add a short personal message to the recording.
