Miller to review department salaries, health benefits
County Judge Roger Miller addressed the court during Friday’s commissioners meeting by expounding on a recent meeting held with county department heads.
Miller stated that he plans to ask willing department heads to update their employees’ job descriptions as to better let the court know how to address salary and benefit needs. Department heads have until early April to compile the information.
Once received, Miller will gather the info to present to commissioners in a mid-late April court workshop.
“We will do a comparative analysis with similar sized counties, as well a regional assessment,” Miller said. “We will compensate employees fairly.
“I want to get ahead of this now for budget season,” he continued.
Miller also informed those present that he decided to forfeit his own budgeted health care coverage to help cover the pay increase set for his executive assistant, saving the county $5,611 in funds.
