A look back, nearly a year after Gatesville church vandalized

Almost a year after the defacing of their church, Mount Calvary Church of God continues to find the positive in situations. Lee Ford, the pastor of the church, was initially the one who found the building in the defaced state the morning of July 29 and called to notify police.

Sometime between the evening of July 28 to the morning of July 29, suspects spray painted derogatory symbols and remarks on the church’s exterior, including a pentagram and the universally recognized symbol of anarchism, a circle with the letter “A” in the middle.

“I drove up, and I was stunned,” said Pastor Ford. “I looked at all the stuff on the wall, and I just started praying.”
