Local parents rally against child sex crimes, trafficking
A growing group of local parents is working to raise awareness about human trafficking and crimes against children.
Rebecca Sherburne and Ashlee Conklin are two of the organizers of a grassroots movement they have dubbed Gatesville Tx #saveourchildren to educate the public and fight against sex crimes, especially those against children, in the area.
“I have been seeing a lot about (trafficking and other sex crimes), but I don’t think anything else is as important as our children,” Sherburne said. “It happens here and it’s not being talked about enough.”
Coryell County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Lacey Manning is currently working almost two dozen criminal cases involving sexual crimes, including sexual abuse and indecency, committed against children in the area.
