Local man arrested after evading police

A Gatesville man was in the Coryell County Jail Monday after fleeing from a traffic stop on Dec. 14.

Marshal Lamar, 33, of Gatesville, was arrested by Coryell County Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office U.N.I.T. Division during a traffic stop on State Highway 36 near the Bell and Coryell county line, according to a release from Coryell County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Rob Atkins.

At the time of the stop, Lamar was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for evading arrest or detention issued by the Gatesville Police Department.

The original offense occurred Dec. 14 when Gatesville Police Department Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North 5th Street on a vehicle that Lamar was driving and was found to have defective equipment.
