Jonesboro’s Hilliker lights up Turkey Valley

 Jonesboro outscored Turkey Valley Patriots 48-6 in the second half to roll to a 70-26 non-district football victory in six-man football Thursday.

Jonesboro fell behind 14-8 in the first quarter, but got going with a balanced attack and rolled in the neutral site game played in Trent, Texas, 20 miles down interstate I-20 west of Abilene.

Jonesboro  finished with 199 yards passing and 193 rushing.

Senior Nat Hilliker had five touchdown receptions among six catches for 175 receiving yards.

Junior Caleb Christel turned in a solid game with three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown of 42 yards.

Manny Torres finished the scoring with a 4-yard run with !:57 left in the game.

Christel rolled up 15 carries for 112 yards rushing.

Other rushers were Jaden Domel, three for 26; Torres, five for 20; Nat Hilliker one for 18; and Jacob Cisneros seven for 17.

Cisernos added two of two passing for 47 yards and two scores and Garrett Young completed one pass for 32 yards.

Leading the defense were Cisneros with 16 tackles, Christel 12, Young 10 and Zach Chapman 10.

Young had an interception and Christel recovered a fumble.

Domel had an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter with 7:22 on the clock.

Hilliker hauled in a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 22-20 halftime lead. The first was from 13 yards from Cisneros. Christel hit Hilliker from 19 yards out on the second one.

Torres opened the second half with score from yard out. Christel raced 44 yards for another score with five minutes left in the quarter. Crisel and Hilliker hooked up for a 37-yard score to close the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Hilliker caught deep balls of 33 and 60 yards from Christel to build the final margin.

Jonesboro (7-0) takes on Greenville Christian at Jonesboro for homecoming 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8. The Eagles open District 15-1A, Division I with Evant Oct. 15.
