Hornet girls battle past Whitney

Heading into the Glen Rose Tournament Dec. 1-3, the Gatesville Hornets girls basketball team compiled a 4-2 record following a hard-fought 48-45 overtime win over the Whitney Wildcats in a Nov. 29 home game.

Taylor Coward led Gatesville with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kagen Hunt scored nine points for GHS followed by Tamiah Miller with eight. 

In earlier action, the Hornets fell to the Lorena Leopards, 48-29 on Nov. 21, defeated the Troy Lady Trojans, 49-33, on Nov. 18, outpaced the Belton Lady Tigers 48-34 on Nov. 15 and fell to the San Saba Lady Armadillos 57-28.

The season-opener was a 55-14 Gatesville win over Live Oak Classical School.
