Heads Up Texas campaign introduced

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently hosted a virtual reality interactive media campaign in Temple to draw attention to the dangers of texting while driving.

According to Ken Roberts, Tx-DOT spokesperson, there has been a drop in distracted driving crashes since the statewide law banning texting and driving came into effect in 2017.

The campaign in collaboration with AT&T’s It Can Wait national efforts will be presented in 11 other cities during June.

Heads up Texas Distracted Driving is a key component of the recently announced TxDOT initiative #EndTheStreakTX that seeks to end all fatalities on Texas roads by 2050. Since November 8, 2000, at least one person has died on Texas roadways every day.
