Sprinklers around the Courthouse keep the lawn lush and green during the extended heat wave, with days frequently exceeding 100 degrees, and no substantial rainfall received or projected. The Courthouse lawn stands in contrast to most of the county’s dry, brittle landscapes in the August heat. Widespread dry conditions across the county have kept a ban on outdoor burning in place and prompted reminders to those welding and working around hay to ensure their equipment is maintained properly and a fire suppression plan is in place to prevent any spark from creating a fire.
