GPD ‘busts’ party, spreads birthday joy

For newly 11-year-old Kaleb Massie-Jansen, a visit by the Gatesville Police Department was welcomed with open arms.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, the Jansen family threw a party for their son at a local restaurant, complete with several reserved tables full of pizza and an excited Kaleb, geared up and ready to usher in his birthday with 20 classmates and friends.

But after waiting 45 minutes, Kaleb’s classmates had failed to show up. The room was full of pizza but lacking one key ingredient vital to any birthday party: the fun.

Despite this, Kaleb’s parents, Tara and Brian Jansen, both former military police offi cers, had an idea. Not wanting the pizzas to go to waste, they made a call to the Gatesville PD, inviting offi cers to come pick up the uneaten treats.
