GISD Board of Trustees approve high school renovation design plan
The Gatesville Independent School Board of Trustees voted on Monday, May 20, at their evening board meeting to approve the schematic designs of the new high school renovation and construction project proposed by WRA Architects.
The board voted for this measure with the understanding that certain changes would be made to the design options originally proposed to the board at their special workshop session held on Monday, May 13.
The board voted for a nonsawtooth option or flatter roof option for the roofing structure over the library and cafeteria area.
According to the Mazanec Construction Company contracted with the possible construction of the building, this would result in the district saving $177,000. The sawtooth design in the proposed plans would have cost the district $338,000 versus $161,000 for the nonsawtooth option.
