GHS volleyball team defeats Robinson

Sparked by the return of senior Kaleigh Haywood, who has missed much of the season with an injury, the Gatesville Hornet volleyball team stormed to a 3-0 sweep of the Robinson Rockets in a key district volleyball game on Oct. 11.

The victory improved Gatesville’s record to 3-3 in district play (16-17) overall and moved the Hornets into a two-way tie with Robinson for third place in district.

Earlier this season, on Sept. 23, the Rockets had defeated Gatesville.

After hosting China Spring on Oct. 14, the Hornets are scheduled to have two straight road games - at Connally on Oct. 18 and at Salado on Oct. 21.

Gatesville will close out the regular season on Oct. 25 with a home contest against the La Vega Pirates, which is also Senior Night/Parent Night for the team.

In addition to Haywood, other seniors for the 2022 GHS varsity volleyball team include Rachel Garrett, Charlee Barron, Lola Barron and Khloe Matthews.
