Posted

The Gatesville Independent School District will usher in the Fighting Gatesville Hornets football team with a Homecoming Fiesta on Thursday, Sept. 22, on 27th Street.

Various clubs and organizations from the high school will begin setting up booths at 4 p.m., and the community is invited to join the festivities from 5 to 7 p.m. Community members and Hornet fans can start the evening by stopping by the Project Graduation booth and purchasing a spirit ribbon to wear during the night’s festivities.

Booths will be set up consisting of a cow patty bingo (FFA), tennis serve challenge (GHS tennis), face painting & cornhole (theater arts), pictures with the one and only “Buzz,” a dunking booth, and a break the pinata (GHS band).

Skills USA and Health Science classes will sell pickles, while the Culinary Arts Department will serve and sell fresh lemonade. The PALS program will have fun glow-in-the-dark items, and the GEAR UP program has invited a team of draft horses that will give wagon rides.

Those attending can cool off with a refreshing bottle of water and select a creative sticker designed by the graphic design students. Swing by the CTE welding booth to purchase items made by the students. Finally, don’t forget to stop by the Spanish department booth to buy a piece of candy.

Several local vendors serving the Gatesville area will be set up along the street, serving food and drinks and donating a portion of their proceeds back to Gatesville High School. GHS senior and country singer Thiele Alvarado will be a special guest and perform live.

The GHS Marching Band, Dazzlers, Cheerleaders, and 2023 graduating class of seniors will make their way to the bonfire at 7:30 p.m., and the tradition of lighting the bonfire will occur at approximately 7:45 p.m. GHS staff invite community members to come out and support the different organizations and share a memorable night with family and friends.
