Gatesville student dies in fatal crash

A Gatesville High School student was killed in a one car accident Thursday morning as she was driving to school. The victim was identified as 17 year old Chloe V. Janisch. The accident occurred before 8 a.m. on FM 107.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety release, the pickup driven by Janisch was traveling west bound on FM 107. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over, ejecting the driver. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

In a letter to parents, Gatesville high school principal Dr. Yancey Sanderson said, “It is with extreme sadness, I must inform you that we lost another high school student this morning in an automobile accident.”

The district allowed students to leave the high school campus Thursday morning but asked parents to pick up the students “to avoid having an emotionally distraught student behind the wheel of a car” the letter stated.
