Gatesville Police Department acquires first K-9

The Gatesville Police Department has recently been training and becoming acquainted with their new K-9.

Thor, a pure-bred black German Shepherd from the Czech Republic, initially started his training in his home country shortly after he was weaned. He was then brought to Liberty Hill to be specially trained in searching for narcotics.

Police Chief Nathan Gohlke said the process for obtaining Thor was relatively quick. The process involved meeting with the Liberty Hill office, picking out a dog that was compatible with a police officer and then sending that police officer to training with the dog. In this case, Jason Yarbrough was partnered and trained with Thor, patrolling with him at all times.
