Recent Gatesville ISD sports results include:

Girls soccer: Varsity lost at Brownwood 3-0.  District 5-4A standings: Stephenville 5-0, Salado 4-1, Brownwood and China Spring 3-2, Gatesville 2-3, Lampasas 1-5, Academy 0-5.  The Lady Hornets (8-4 overall) traveled to Salado on Friday.

Boys soccer: Varsity lost to Brownwood 3-0.  District 5-4A standings: Salado 5-0, Stephenville 4-1, Gatesville and Brownwood 3-2, China Spring 2-3, Lampasas 1-4, Academy 0-4.  The Hornets (8-2-2 overall) played at Salado on Friday.

Softball: Varsity defeated McGregor 16-5 in the season opener.  Junior varsity won 16-5 as well.  Varsity will play in the Killeen ISD Invitational Thursday through Saturday.  The Hornets' Thursday pool schedule will be: 9 a.m., Georgetown Gateway; noon, Round Rock McNeil; 3 p.m., Killeen Chaparral. All games will be played at Harker Heights Community Park. 

Tennis: Hornet junior varsity results from GHS tournament: Carolmarie Szustak and Daniela Caminero Garllardo finished third in girls doubles, Zach Stevens won consolation in boys singles.

Girls Basketball: GHS had five players/managers named to the District 23-4A all-academic team: Kylie Cox, Ruby De La Torre, Kamryn Higginbotham, Kagen Hunt and Paige Sentillas.
