Gatesville Council sets new recreation fees

Gatesville's Splash Pad is now open for business and offers free entertainment, and the Gatesville City Council recently set fees for other local recreation options, including the outdoor swimming pool, fitness center and participation in adult sports.

The splash pad is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, but those who want to swim will have to wait a bit longer. The city pool, located at 300 S. Eighth St., is set to open Saturday, May 21. Hours for the pool are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 1-6 p.m. Sundays and noon to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pool is closed on Mondays.

Admission to the pool is free for children ages 3 and younger and $3 per day for ages 4 and older. A season pass costs $40 for an individual, $70 for a family of four and $10 for each additional family member. Visitors can also purchase punch cards which allow 10 visits for $25.

The city allows pool rentals for parties. The cost is $80 per hour for 1-40 participants, $100 per hour for 41-50 people, $120 for 51-60 people, $140 for 61-70 people, and $20 per additional 10 people for more than 71 participants.

Swim lessons are also available, and cost $60 per four-hour session.

New membership fees have been approved for the Gatesville Fitness Center, which featured an indoor heated pool and hot tub, two regulation racquetball courts, an aerobics studio, exercise equipment, Icarian weight machines and free weights, shower rooms with individual locks and multiple exercise classes each week.

The fitness center, located at 203 N. 34th St., is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Membership fees for individuals are $45 for one month, $75 for three months, $138 for six months or $252 for 12 months, paid in full. For those who sign up for auto pay, the cost for individuals is $25 per month for a six-month membership or $23 per month for a 12-month membership.

Membership fees for a family are $83 per month, $148 for three months, $264 for six months and $462 for 12 months when paid in full. The cost for families using auto pay is $50 per month for a six-month membership or $45 per month for a 12-month membership.

The cost for a senior membership is $33 per month, $56 for three months, $100 for six months or $172 for 12 months when paid in full. The cost for seniors using auto pay is $19 per month for a six-month membership or $17 per month for a 12-month membership.

For those looking for a more temporary option, cost is $5 for a one-day pass, $15 for a one-week pass, $30 for 10 visits or $25 for one month with a military ID.

Locker rentals cost $5 per month and the pool can be rented for $50 per hour.

The City Council also approved a fee of $325 per team for those participating in the adult softball program.
