Fort Hood fi res contained

A day after the ongoing Fort Hood range fi re was declared 100 percent contained, another wildfi re began at the Blackwell ranges Tuesday afternoon, July 31, sending the post’s fi refi ghters springing to the frontlines. Luckily, as of press time on Thursday, Aug. 2, all Fort Hood fi res, including the most recent, are 100 percent contained.

According to the Fort Hood Press Center (FHPC), following Monday’s brief rainfall, post off cials announced wildfi res in the northern training area to be contained Tuesday. The respite for Fort Hood fi refighters was a welcomed relief, according to Fort Hood Fire Chief Sergio Campos. “The fact that we were able to pull back resources and relatively return to normal operations is a blessing,” he stated. “We all need time to reset mentally and physically, so we are ready for the next fi ght.” Later that same day, another fi re broke out.
