Exchange Club’s Day of the Child

Posted

The Exchange Club of Gatesville recently hosted its “Day of the Child” event. Several local organizations participated and offered fun activities for the children to do such as face painting, horse rides, barrel train rides and football toss.

4-H ambassadors were on hand and had an area set up for Easter pictures with real rabbits and baby chicks.

A certified child passenger safety instructor was available to provide safety checks for child safety seats and provide education on the correct installation of seats. “We inspected 13 (car seats) and gave away 12. None of the children arrived properly restrained,” Heidi Harper-Berard said. “Car crashes are a leading cause of death in our children and properly using a car seat makes such a difference in crash outcomes,” she said.

Members of the Exchange Club of Gatesville joined thousands of fellow Exchangites across the country to help promote this child abuse prevention project.
