COVID rise `very disturbing’
The recent jump in active cases of COVID-19 is “very disturbing,” but not entirely unexpected, Coryell County Emergency Coordinator Bob Harrell said this week.
On Tuesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services was reporting 3,193 total confirmed cases in Coryell County, including 96 probable cases, 30 fatalities, an estimated 452 active cases and an estimated 2,807 recovered.
The state numbers on the DSHS website likely include inmates and employees at the six Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Gatesville.
In total, there are 114 active cases among inmates and 1,126 recovered. By local unit, active cases among inmates are as follows: The Crain Unit was reporting three active cases. Murray Unit had 16. Hughes reported 20. Mountain View had 53 active cases. Woodman reported 18 active cases among inmates and Hilltop had four.
