County/jailers sued by family of inmate

Coryell County and two Coryell County jailers, Steven Lovelady and Wesley Pelfrey, have been sued by the family of Kelli Leanne Page, a 46-year-old Gatesville woman who died while in custody of the Coryell County Jail on Oct. 8, 2017.

The lawsuit was filed by Page’s parents, John and Susie Fairchild.

The lawsuit claims that the day before her death, Page was extracted from her cell by Lovelady and a second jailer and her head hit the cell wall. She was then put into a restraint chair. She suffered a contusion and hematoma at that time and was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital for medical care.

During the extraction, the lawsuit states that according to proper procedure, Page should have been extracted by five people and not just two.
