County plans budget
County budget preparations for fiscal year 2020 are moving along according to Coryell County Judge Roger Miller. The county’s elected and appointed officials and heads of various county departments have received their budget packet with a requested completion date of June 12.
This is Miller’s first budget cycle since taking office and he has made several changes in the budget preparation process.
Following budget submission, Miller along with County Auditor Ben Roberts will hold an extended meeting with each department to go over their requests on a line-by-line basis and discuss any questions or concerns.
Following the individual department meetings, Miller will prepare a summary and return to the requestor to assure that all points of the request have been understood correctly.
The next step according to Miller, will be to draft the initial budget proposal for consideration by the commissioner’s court in a series of budget workshops during the summer.
