County continues fight against COVID
Coryell County officials urged community members to maintain efforts to stem the spread of CO- VID-19 as the county continued to see a slow uptick in reported confirmed cases this week.
On Thursday, the county had 220 cases recorded, including 33 active cases, 28 recovered, two deceased and 157 inmates in local Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities. This reflected 12 new cases since Monday.
The 12 new cases this week include a female in her 40s from Gatesville and a male TDCJ employee in his 30s. One local TDCJ inmate was confirmed positive on Tuesday.
The county also saw an increase in recovered cases, from 22 to 28, this week.
The TDCJ website was reflecting 81 cases in local inmates on Thursday, which reflected a continued discrepancy between numbers reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services and those reported by TDCJ.
