United Women in Faith

Posted

The regular meeting of the United Women in Faith (formerly known as the United Methodist Women) was held on May 10, in the Banquet Room at the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Eleven members were in attendance. The hostesses were Marilyn Decker and Shirleen Chandler.

President Patsy Smart called the meeting to order by leading in the Blessing. Following refreshments, Smart thanked the hostesses and read The Purpose. Mary Beth Rivers read from the Daily Prayer Guide and the Response Magazine. Chandler led the group in singing “Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me.”

President Smart called the business meeting to order. She read a thank-you note from Inez Arnold for the Easter goodies we gave out. Included in the reports was one about honoring our high school graduates, on Sunday, May 15, at the 10:30 service. This year, there will be seven graduates to honor.

Marilyn Decker led a special service for Memorial Day. She played “Taps” on her horn as the group sang along.

Debbie Martin asked that we all remember the United Methodist Church worldwide in their prayers as we begin a time of moving forward. All church members will be invited to attend informational meetings soon. Meeting adjourned with the Benediction.
