City ups efforts for EPA grant to abate The Rotunda

Gatesville city officials have continued their efforts at community engagement to encourage input about potential abatement and removal of the former Rotunda Nursing Home on Osage Road.

City Manager Bill Parry addressed the memberships of the Gatesville Lions Club and Ex change Club earlier in the week to present the city’s plan to seek an Environmental Protection Agencybacked Brownfields Grant to safely abate and remove the crumbling, asbestos-covered remains of the Rotunda.

The Rotunda, located at 2525 Osage Road, eased operations in 2000 and has sat vacant and in increasing disrepair since. The city acquired the property in 2008 through tax foreclosure.
