Centex Crime Stoppers – Crime of the Week 9/22/2021

Posted

This week, Centex Crime Stoppers would like to bring awareness to an ongoing issue in several of our surrounding communities. With social media continuing to maintain its importance in the eyes of our youth, there are undoubtedly influences that can, and have been taking place that may have extreme impact on your child’s life as they enter adulthood. There is a new trend on the social media app known as TikTok. The trend has been dubbed “The Devious Lick Challenge” and it’s growing rapidly. Students from all over the local area are stealing, vandalizing, and breaking property belonging to teachers, staff members, and the school district, all for “likes and followers” on social media.

Centex Crime Stoppers needs your help in making sure that our youth are aware of the consequences should they decide to partake in these social media challenges. Teachers and staff members work hard for their property, and school districts are cracking down and filing charges. This is not just a social media challenge; it is a crime.

If you have any information about any case or any local crime, call Centex Crime Stoppers 24 hours a day at 1-254-865-8477 (TIPS) or visit our website at www. Centexcrimestoppers.org or by downloading the “P3” mobile app available on both the Apple app store and Google Play Store. You never have to give your name, and if your information leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward.

Crime Stoppers, citizens, police, and the media working together can make our community a safer place to live. Together we can make a difference.
