CCSO gives racial profiling report
Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams released the department’s annual Racial Profiling Report to the County Commissioner’s Court during their regular meeting Feb.25.
Williams said the 2018 report is fairly consistent with previous years.
The sheriff’s department made 2,353 stops with 667 citations written as a result of the stop. Most of the citations were for moving traffic violations such as speeding or reckless driving. Most of the traffi c stops occurred on a State Highway or Farm to Market Road.
The traffic stops resulted in 69 arrests.
In terms of race or ethnicity, about 70 percent of the traffi c stops involved Caucasians. 15 percent were African-American and about 12 percent were Hispanic.
