April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Painted rocks raise awareness

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Coryell County Child Welfare Board is encouraging our community to paint rocks to raise awareness.

To help, paint a rock and add the Texas Abuse Hotline (1-800-252- 5400) to the back of the rock.

For those interested in painting rocks, it is suggested to use smooth, flat rocks that have been washed and dried. Sketch and paint a design on the rock.

Once the rock has dried, add words, including “Abuse Hotline” and add the above phone number.

After completed, the rocks should be covered with a sealant and then placed around the community.

Painting and distributing the rocks is one way to raise awareness and encourage reporting.

If a child is being hurt or neglected, the best way to help is to report.
