Posted

The Maples Masonic Lodge #791 A.F. & A.M. recently joined with the Gatesville Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M. to honor seven members who had been Masons for 50 years. All combined, these seven men represent 350 years of service to the Masons.

Pictured above, from left to right, William Truss (of the Maples Lodge), Larry McDonald, Carl Kietzer, John Hitt, Zonnel Haynes, Jerry Casey and Robert Arnold.

The 50-year Masons were joined at the ceremony by their families and friends who came to witness the achievements these men had made during their involvement with the Masons.

Masons are described as a fraternal and charitable organization. Freemasonry is built upon three basic tenets or principles – Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. Brotherly Love is the practice of the Golden Rule. Relief embodies charity for all mankind. Truth is honesty, fair play and adherence to the cardinal virtues of Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, and Justice.
