Keep Gatesville Beautiful knows that readers have enjoyed seeing the beautiful, lush Yard of the Month selections. Given the current water situation and the drought that our area is enduring, they don't feel that it is appropriate to encourage the level of water use that those lawns require.

Instead, they want to recognize those who have found ways to make their properties attractive while conserving water. They will be looking for homes with creative landscaping using hardscape, pretty front porches and inviting entryways.

Until further notice, they won't consider green grass and lush flowerbeds for Yard of the Month. They look forward to sharing how our neighbors keep Gatesville beautiful, while conserving the precious natural resource of water.
