Mother Neff to host First Day Hike 2023

Mother Neff State Park will be kicking off the new year and 100 years of Texas State Parks with the First Day Hike of 2023. Bring family and friends to participate in the 11th year of a national partnership with America’s State Parks. 

 

The First Day Hike will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue through 3 p.m. The program is free, but there will be a park entry fee of $2 per person 13 years or older. Children 12 years of age and under will be admitted free. Those wishing to participate can meet at park headquarters for information.

 

Be sure to bring water, wear sensible shoes, and dress accordingly to the weather. 

The Leon River Dutch Oven Gang will be serving black-eyed peas beginning at 11 a.m. and will continue to serve them until the peas run out. Mother Neff will have interpretive stations throughout the park, sharing the park’s history and natural resources.
