Helping to make a difference

To the editor:

Dear Citizens of Gatesville and the surrounding area:

I would like to take a moment of your time to raise up before you five incredible Christian citizens of our community, along with the three businesses they run.

The people would be Ricky and Tana Snoddy, and Chad and Katy Hill, owners and operators of The Feed Mill and Bare Bones, along with Jennifer Smith who owns and operates Park Street Burgers.

As many of you know, we had a water emergency not only in Gatesville, but also in the outlying areas as a 30-inch water line burst at the water treatment plant in Moffat. When I was told the news, I was also asked to share with our church members just how serious the situation could become and the urgent need to begin conserving water immediately as it looked like it would be a couple of days before the situation could be fixed.

From what I understand, The Feed Mill, Bare Bones, and Park Street Burgers were three restaurants that took that request seriously and closed their businesses so that precious water and water pressure could be reserved for the needs of others, especially our hospital, nursing homes and emergency needs like fighting fires. (If there were other restaurants, please let me know.) I just wanted to single them out for another example of their community involvement and their concern for others as they put the needs of others ahead of their own needs and business income.
