William Dean Ruff, age 72, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by his sons and family. Graveside services with military honors were held at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Pastor Wray Nunn officiated.
Bill was born August 24, 1950, in Great Falls, Montana to Daniel and Lora Fae Ruff. After high school he joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He later finished his long military career at M.A.T.E.S. After retirement Bill enjoyed spending his time restoring old cars, fishing, camping, and hanging out with his dogs. He loved spending time with his sons when they weren’t giving him a hard time.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Pete Ruff.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruff; sons, Gary Ruff and wife, Lonna, and Shawn Ruff and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Gary Ruff, Jr, Michella, Heiler, Lance, and Layden; siblings, Faye, Mary, Diane, Pam, Mike, Clayton, Steve, and Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.
